Driving Questions And Answers
Mike Selvon
Every day the media shows scenes of tragic accidents. These accidents could have been avoided had the person known how to drive well and stay focused on the road. There are so many distractions that people give in to when they drive. They talk on their cell phones, apply make-up and even try to eat while driving. These are all factors that can lead to a devastating accident.
But it does not have to be this way. If more people took defensive driving courses the roads would be a safer place for everyone. More people would know the real rules of the road and how to avoid tragic mistakes that can end lives. In this article we will cover the basics of defensive driving and how it can make a huge difference in your life.
What is defensive driving?
Defensive driving is the process of constantly being alert to what other drivers are doing and what your own actions are doing. It is a an ongoing process where you are taught to mind the rules of safety and follow certain practices that help ensure that you are not a danger to anyone else and not a danger to yourself when you are behind the wheel.
Many people, after receiving a ticket for speeding or other driving offenses, are instructed to attend a defensive driving course to teach them how to drive safer. It is a great class for many young people to attend and is becoming the law in many states.
They are required to attend a defensive driving course in order to become licensed to drive by themselves. This is a great idea as it lessens the chance of the individual becoming involved in a car accident.
How can defensive driving help me?
Defensive driving can help you learn how to drive properly. It can teach you how closely you can follow a vehicle, how to manage your own reflexes and even teach you how to negotiate in traffic properly. You are taught to never rely on the other driver.
It is your responsibility to watch out for what they are doing and adjust your driving accordingly. It also teaches you to pay attention. Most accidents occur because the driver was not paying attention to the road. This means not using your cell phone while driving and certainly not applying make-up while you are commuting to work or anywhere.
What is the Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 program?
The Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is a program that teaches people to drive 25 mph when in residential areas. More children are at risk when you speed through areas where children are present.
Children do not often think about looking to ensure that there is no traffic when they cross the street or their ball runs out into the road. In this program you are taught to be mindful of the dangers of kids playing near the road and how you can prevent a tragedy from occurring by simply driving at a slower rate of speed.
Where can I attend a defensive driving school?
If your state allows online defensive driving schools there are many websites on the internet that offer the course. If your state requires that you attend a defensive driving course in person you can always check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles to find a course that is convenient to your work or school schedule.
