Everyone knows that cleaning grout can be a monumental task. That mixture in between your tiles is so small and difficult to reach to begin with, and by their very nature, the grout simply absorbs surrounding dirt and muck, making it next to impossible to remove.

There are currently a lot of marketed ways to remove grout stains. Of course, some are better than others, while a number don't work at all. But before we get into the details of grout cleaning, we must first remember than prevention is better than cure. This is doubly applicable in grout cleaning.

Maintenance, thus, is an important lesson when it comes to cleaning grout. Rather than spending hours every twenty days or so to clean your grout, why not consider this? Prepare a mixture of alcohol and water in a spray bottle. Now whenever the bathroom is used, spray the mixture onto the grout and the surrounding tiles. This will ensure that muck will not accumulate too fast!

Sadly, that by itself will only lessen the number of times you'd have to clean your grout, and will not totally eliminate the need for it. The ability to clean your grout efficiently thus remains as an essential skill to learn. My simple solution for grout cleaning would be to use baking soda. Mix it with water, and then apply it to the tiles. Let it sit for some time thereafter, and then wash off.

Of course, if you maintain your grout properly using the method I suggested above, then you could instead hire grout-cleaners to perform the occasional task. You won't need to do it as often, and the grout cleaners have the equipment necessary to make your floor looking new again.

Do whatever you wish to for your grout, but let me hand out a warning; you simply cannot ignore them. Even if you don't mind the aesthetics of dirty grout, you will have to contend with the things that will undoubtedly fester on them. Black mold is a very dangerous fungus that tends to grow on untended grout.
