The grout cleaning is a necessity that many of us would have to contend with. Like me, you might be reasonably irritated at the prospect of kneeling down and scrubbing in between tiles. Unfortunately, not liking it does not mean that it can be ignored. Unhindered, grout becomes a breeding ground for many antagonistic organisms, most notably the dreaded black mold.
So we've established the necessity of cleaning your home's grout, and thus move on to discuss some of the popular cleaning methods. I should of course mention the most obvious solution; manually scrubbing the grout with detergent and an old toothbrush. If you choose to go this route, then I will applaud your futile tenacity. It just isn't worth it, as even with a lot of elbow grease, you will only manage to clean the grout slightly. It will never be clean enough for you.
As such, the next best thing that would come to a person's mind when he is cleaning grout is to check out a few alternatives to your traditional detergent. Among these, many (such as vinegar) will not work. So which one do you choose? I personally suggest chlorine bleach, which has proven to be the most effective for me. But do be careful with this liquid; as you probably know, it can also remove color. You may need to find an alternative if you wish to spring for this one.
You may also be familiar with some of the commercial machines dedicated to grout cleaning. Most popular among these is the electric scrubbers; these may work out pretty well. But do note that it will only save you personal energy; as a scrubber, the effectiveness of it will still rely on the cleaning solution that you use. And then, if you plan on getting the bigger machines, I advice caution: They are hard to use, and if untrained, you may end up damaging your tiles.
So, there's an idea; why don't you just hire professional grout cleaners? They can handle these big machines particularly well, and I assure you that they can clean grout better than you ever will on your best day. If going pro, I simply advice that you seal off your grout afterwards with everyday coatings of alcohol - these will help with keeping your grout clean. Consequently, a the longer it stays clean, the less often it will be for you to call them again.
