Life is what you make it. So if you are miserable with your current situation, why not make the necessary changes to wellness? This does not mean banking on the false promises of quick-fix diet pills and diets that are out there. And it doesn't mean joining your local gym in hopes of spending hours on the treadmill to trim your tummy. It does mean that you have to realize that this task requires a change in lifestyle and that change to wellness begins with you.
1. Weight loss begins with you.
Choosing the healthy way to shed the pounds is a very good step in the right direction but the success of your efforts and results is purely dependent on you. You have no one else to blame when your efforts of losing the baby fat is abandoned due to self-sabotage or put on the back burner. You have to find a means of motivating yourself inwardly to sustain you through the "bad" days. A lifestyle program can guide you in setting realistic goals and expectations to achieve success for the long term.
2. Re-gain your self-esteem.
As any busy Mom would agree, days seem to fly by and before you know it, you are overweight Mom with low self-esteem. It's easy to get lost in translation between your pre-baby and post-baby existence. Mom, you need to take care of you. This means that you will have to find the time to lose your tummy and get back into shape. You can learn how to have a balance in your life with a lifestyle program. All work and no play will make for an unhappy-can't-lose-the-weight Mom. A Mom who feels good about herself inside and out results in a happy family.
3. Lose Inches off your Body
Fat loss is all about losing the inches of your waist, arms, thighs, etc. It's about replacing your body fat with lean muscle. This requires that you do some strength training to re-gain your lost muscles. The type of strength training for a toned, lean body is called resistance interval training. When it is done at high intensity, it will effectively burn the baby fat and shrink your waistline so that you will fit into your skinny jeans.
4. Boost your Energy.
A busy Mom needs energy. Bad eating habits and lack of exercise eventually leads to poor health. Your body is like a fine tuned machine and if you maintain it with poor nutrients and lack of exercise, then you will not be able to get "good" mileage or performance. Most fitness programs include a nutrition component to their program. These programs reinforce the importance of a healthy diet and daily exercise to trim your tummy and give you more energy to keep up with the demands of being a busy Mom.
5. Minimize the Stress.
Many Moms find themselves stressed because they are overwhelmed with the many demands and expectations that she has to fulfill. In addition, Moms have a tendency to keep putting their needs and wants on hold for those of their loved ones. By looking after yourself with healthy food choices, eating habits, daily exercise and some "Mom-only down" time, you can reduce and cope better to manage the stress.
What you see is what you get and this applies to how you live your life. You have to decide that enough is enough and losing pregnancy weight requires you to take a first step towards emancipation from your "old" life. Don't listen to the persuasive lies to yourself about the hard work; the lack of time or the "tomorrow" excuses keeping you back. It is time to set the stage and be the star Mom that you are and get healthy for you and your family.
