Chang's Hapkido London offers a free class to prospective students to act as a taster to learning the Korean martial art of Hapkido. The academy is based near Blackfriars Tube and all classes are mixed ability and taught by Tammy Parlour, a black belt fourth dan and arguable the highest ranked female in the UK.
The martial art of Hapkido focuses on kicking and punching, throwing and sparring, joint locks and self-defence, and all skills are designed to subdue an opponent without causing serious injury. Regular training also increases fitness levels and instills a feeling of confidence and balance.
'The London academy is incredibly friendly and the teaching is excellent,' says London martial arts student Paul Brooks. 'Everyone is there to learn and always very welcoming and helpful towards new students. It's definitely worth checking out if you've always fancied learning martial arts in London but never had the confidence to take the first step and attend a class.'
