Life can become very stressful if you have to suffer a long and tiresome commute to work every day, just to spend all day at a job you hate – or worse – a job that bores you.
People often wonder if they would have the self-discipline needed to work from home every day.
But if you can earn passive income, you can work where ever and whenever you want, with no hard self-discipline involved.
Passive income means that you don't have to work all the time to get paid.
A good example of passive income is book royalties. Authors work once, when they write a book, and the book can keep on selling and earning them money for years.
And the same principle can be used for earning money online.
You just build a web site for free, work on it a few hours a week and your site can earn you money for the rest of your life.
You can set up as many web sites as you want, to sell your own products, sell other people's products for a commission or set up simple information sites that earn money from the advertisements displayed on them.
Once your web sites are established, you can update them and add content any time you want. You can also spend a bit of time generating more traffic to your sites.
The time it takes to look after your web sites is minimal. You can do more if you want to, but it's entirely up to you.
Some people work all day on their web sites and others don't. It all depends how much money you want to earn. And it only takes 2 or 3 hours a day for you to earn enough money to live on.
That's because online work generates passive income.
When you own your own web sites, you're not paid by the hour and 2 or 3 hours of focused work can generate a month's income, or more.
Building web sites is a bit like building a well. When you build a well, there seems to be a lot of work at the start, but eventually a click on the pump handle now and again will keep the water flowing.
And it's the same with building web sites.
It seems like a bit of work at first, but then just a bit of updating and marketing now and then will keep the money flowing.
And self-discipline isn't a problem when you don't have to work all day.
Which leaves you plenty of time to get on with enjoying your life.
Isn't that what you really want?
Success to me is being able to earn more by doing less.
It's far better to work part-time for a full-time income. That way you have the option of living on what you're now getting or working for more.
Personally, I'll take living on what I'm already getting any day.
