Natural Acid Reflux Treatment
Groshan Fabiola
The main treatments for acid reflux are drugs. A change of diet or lifestyle may also be a way to go, but when it come to injuries done by acid reflux, doctors prescribe medicines. Natural remedies are also available on the market. Some of the medicines that are used to relive the acid reflux symptoms and heal the injuries that you have in your esophagus as a result of acid reflux are:
- antacids are the first drugs that come to mind when thinking of acid reflux; however mild these medicines see, the liquid form that they come in nowadays is very bad for you; if your baby is suffering from acid reflux, this drug would only give him/ her constipation or dihareea; the long term side effects of this acid reflux are not yet known, so it is best to try to avoid it;
- another group of drugs that are used in acid reflux cases are H2RA, which reduce the production of acid; this drugs do not reduce the actual reflux that is cause by acid reflux, but they do reduce the amount of acid found in the liquid that refluxes, thus making acid reflux cause less damage; many of the drugs that fit into this category are not good for children , so it is best you talk to your doctor before taking any of these acid reflux drugs;
- a more recent discovery in acid reflux treatment are proton pump inhibitors; these drugs too reduce the production of acid, thus diminishing the damage done by acid reflux; these types of drugs are much better than H2RA, thus being used more often by acid reflux patients;
- there is also another type of medicines used in acid reflux case, which are thought to tighten the muscle ring and speed up the process that takes place in your stomach; however, because of problems that happened to acid reflux patients when they used this drug, it is no longer in use;
However, may of the drugs that are found on the market today for acid reflux are not good for children. Only a few medications can be given to children in acid reflux cases and those with some warning signs.
