Natural Cures Acid Reflux
Juana Cruz
If you're reading this article you probably have acid reflux, and you want to find out the natural cures for it. It seems to be a common disease, occurring in individuals from both genders, regardless of age. This should not be taken lightly, because it can develop into something more serious, including esophageal ulcer or even esophageal cancer.
Acid reflux can be cured by so many ways. Medications and surgical procedures now make it possible for acid reflux patients to eliminate their disease in a matter of days, or weeks. This is only for those who don't mind spending some money and are not scared of the risks known. Still, there are those who can't spend thousands on medications and hospital stays and are scared of any unwanted side effects. If you're one of them, you can still cure your acid reflux naturally. I'm referring to natural cures. Acid reflux can be eliminated naturally, but my word of advice is, it will be gone in weeks or months, so be patient. Lastly, do not apply anything without a word of advice from a doctor. Your doctor should be the one to give you the best way on how to cure it.
Here are some natural cures for acid reflux which you can try.
1. Apple cider vinegar. This has been used many times for some conditions, like allergies, acne, sinus infections, flu, high cholesterol, candida, chronic fatigue, contact dermatitis, sore throats, gout and arthritis. Many acid reflux patients had been using this little thing in order to eliminate it as well. For many, it is effective. But the setback, though, is its strong metallic taste, which you must keep with up anyway if you want to get rid of your health condition. Just add two or more tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to eight ounces of water and drink it thrice a day.
2. Chewing gum acts to neutralize one's acid supply, which makes it an instant remedy for acid reflux. Other treatments with the same effect are aloe vera and honey, which you can buy at health stores. They have the same result like those medications, the difference is the former are safer and cheaper.
3. Other herbal cures to apply are peppermint, chamomile, ginger, licorice root and catnip. They are taken in tea form after meals to help soothe your stomach linings and to faciliate in proper digestion.
4. Ginger is helpful against acid reflux as it helps in problem-free digestion and alleviates an upset stomach. Drink 500mg of ginger with a glass of water after meals. You can either take it in tea or capsule form.
5. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL raises the level of mucus, which lines the digestive tract. It has strong anti-inflammatory characteristics and protects the esophagus from stomach contents. Drink two 250mg capsules before eating your meals.
6. Glutamine is an amino acid with anti-inflammatory characteristics. It soothes the pain caused by acid reflux, and encourages the production of new cells to replace old ones along the gastrointestinal tract.
7. Aside from consuming certain home remedies, don't forget that practical changes help. This means you should not eat certain food and drinks that cause the lower esophageal sphincter to relax too much. Examples of these are chocolate, citrus fruits, spicy foods, including fried and fatty foods. Of course, you should stay away from other things that cause acid relfux attacks, like smoking, wearing tight clothes and anything tight around the waist, lying down after a meal and eating large amounts of food.
8. According to the National Heartburn Alliance, 58 percent of sufferers complain that hectic lifestyle is their major trigger behind acid reflux, and 52 percent of them say they experience worse acid reflux attacks when they are having work-related stress. While it is not clear yet if there is a link between stress and acid reflux, it's still better to stop great amounts stress because many individuals tend to drink alcohol or smoke to forget about their problems.
As mentioned, to make sure you get the effects of natural cures for acid reflux, just keep applying them and be patient. It takes time to see if they work or not.
