New Child Custody Laws
Mark K James
Visitation arrangements most often cause conflict between divorced parents. But this should not be the case if only the two parties involved sit down and talk things out in a nice way and use a new tool to help them come up with a fair agreement on visitation rights. After all, the children's welfare is at stake here hence they have every right to enjoy the company of both parents as much as possible whether on ordinary days or during special occasions.
Visitation rights are usually decided by the family law courts according to recognized guidelines and giving parents a fair time to be with their children. However, this is only done when the two parties fail to reach an agreement. Several factors are considered when a court determines visitation rights. These include the children's ages, their educational status, health and social factors as well as the business status and locations of the divorced parents.
In creating a visitation plan, three major aspects have to be taken into consideration and which parents should keep in mind all the time.
  • Visitation schedule ? This should specify in full detail the day of visitation and the time it should start and end. It should state the specific days of the week and the holidays the children will be with each parent. For important occasions, visitation must be clear to both parties and if the visits on these special holidays will be alternate year to year.
  • Exchange of children ? This aspect is often the cause of arguments between divorced parents. But this can be easily resolved if negotiated well, put in writing and included in the visitation agreement. It's vital to agree on who picks up the children and brings them back home and where they should be picked up and dropped off. In most situations, the kids are picked up from and brought back to the parent who has full custody of them or the so-called primary residential parent.
  • Communication ? Divorced parents need to agree as well on the means of communication they should use concerning issues that involve their children. This pertains to how one parent should inform the other in cases when the picking up and dropping off of the child gets delayed or canceled, the time needed to provide a notice and if third parties will be allowed to relay important messages.
  • Fortunately, a new child visitation plan software is now within easy reach to help parents come up with a detailed schedule fair to both of them. This child custody software is very affordable and easily downloadable plus it can even be used in court for documentation purposes.
A child custody calendar is the ultimate tool any divorced parent can utilize with ease. With this, one can make a detailed schedule of overnight stays, pickup and drop off day and time and even come up with an accurate child support amount. This visitation plan software is very helpful in that it allows a parent to keep track of the other parent's compliance of his visitation rights. It can be printed out right away for presentation to the other party during negotiations and to the court for proper legal recognition.
