Occupational Safety & Health Administration
Osha
?Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)? is an agency of the U.S. Department of Labor. The agency is result of ?The Occupational Safety and Health Act? signed by President Richard M. Nixon on Dec. 29, 1970. The Agency aims to ensure employee safety and health in the United States by working with employers and employees to create better working environments. Since its inception, OSHA has helped to cut workplace fatalities by more than 60 percent and occupational injury and illness rates by 40 percent.
OSHA's mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
Nearly every working man and woman in the nation comes under OSHA's jurisdiction (with some exceptions such as miners, transportation workers, many public employees, and the self-employed). Other users and recipients of OSHA services include: occupational safety and health professionals, the academic community, lawyers, journalists, and personnel of other government entities.
There are different courses provided by different institutions on Occupational Safety and Health, which includes:
