Some significant differences in our presidential candidates intentions have emerged in the recent debates. One of the most prominent issues being discussed is health insurance. With all the commotion over the rising costs of everyday necessities like food and gas, and the national debt, most Americans are not thinking of the portion of their pay that is going toward medical care and insurance plans. Since 2000 health insurance premiums have doubled. This means that employers are having to make choices between their own health insurance and their employees'. or hiring more employees. The choice for a small business owner is simple, insuring their employees is too costly. You may ask what the candidates have to say about health care and how they will reform our current situation...
Obama's plan seems more proactive. Giving everyone, specifically small business owners, the option to buy into larger groups for more affordable insurance rates for their employees and themselves is a a big factor. His plan also works for doctors to be paid for wellness achievements and check ups as opposed to procedures. Most of the problems are stemming form the insurance companies, which is where Obama's plan seems to be addressing the core issues at.
McCain's plan doesn't seem to be changing the system at all, just handing chucks of money to the individual. With this plan, it is unknown what will happen in the long term view. If premiums double over the next eight years, who knows if we will be able to afford insurance even with the chunk of money.
The question of the day...is change within this system truly possible, or has the health care system in this country taken on a life of it's own. It is time to at least look toward revising this system and giving the people of this country a fighting chance to get the care they need when they need it.
Overall, the Obama plan seems to be the most likely to change the overall health care structure in America, which hopefully will allow all American's an equal shot at getting the medical attention they truly need. Only time will truly tell.
