Numerical Reasoning Practice Tests
Vikram Kuamr
Many people all around the world will soon be applying for jobs that require them to sit through aptitude tests as part of the job selection process. Numerical reasoning tests and numerical reasoning questions are an essential part of aptitude tests. Numerical reasoning tests are filled with multiple choice numerical reasoning questions. This particular portion of the aptitude test is always strictly timed. It is important to know that you will not be allowed to use a calculator unless the question specifically states that you can use a calculator for that particular question, section or questions. These types of tests typically cover percentages, ratios, trends and decimals, which must be read from graphs or tables.
The percentage of numerical reasoning questions that you will be expected to answer on your numerical reasoning tests will depend on what type of job you are applying for. Applying for a job that requires you to work with figures on a day to day basis will require you to answer a higher percentage of answers. A job that involves dealing with money, selling, buying, processing invoices, processing orders, administration, science, engineering and numerical analysis of any sort will require you to answer a higher percentage of questions. A job that does not involve figure work as a substantial part of the job will still require you to answer a decent percentage of questions correctly.
When taking numerical reasoning tests, you will likely encounter computation questions. These particular types of numerical reasoning questions will test your ability to work with decimals, ratios, percentages, fractions, roots, exponents and powers. You will need to use an obvious method in order to answer these questions correctly and in order to score well on these questions you will need to make quick and accurate calculations. These questions do not in any way attempt to test your reasoning abilities. You will also have to answer estimation questions to fairly straightforward numeric questions. These questions are more important for craft and technical jobs.
You will also find data interpretation questions on numerical reasoning tests. These particular types of numerical reasoning questions will test your ability to understand and interpret information displayed in tables, graphs and charts. This is a common requirement for many management and professional jobs. You will also encounter critical reasoning questions when taking these tests. These particular questions will provide you with a sample of information. You will then need to find the logic that needs to be used in order to answer the question and then answer the question. These questions are sometimes designed to fit specific workplace situations.
There are a number of ways that you can increase your score on these tests. For starters, you can purchase books that provide tips and example questions that will help you improve your score. You can also use practice tests that can be found on the internet. You can also purchase the Advance Numerical Reasoning Test Simulator from Numerical Reasoning. This particular package contains eight timed numerical reasoning tests with a total of two hundred and ten advanced numerical reasoning questions. You will also be supplied with eight solution booklets which will help you grade your own tests. Scoring well on these tests can make the difference when it comes to your getting the job that you're applying for.
