Thrush is also known as candidiasis or yeast infection. It originates from an entirely natural fungus within the body which poses no threat to the human body. When there is an overgrowth of this fungus it leads to thrush which is a source of great discomfort. Pain of the vulva and inside the vagina itself is typical. Vaginal discharge may become thick and give an unpleasant smell.
Over three quarters of the human population have the natural fungus - candida albicans - in their bodies along with countless others. The develpoment of thrush from this natural fungus is not exclusive to the vagina but can also be present in stomach, mouth and colon. When there is no abundance of this natural fungus there is no threat at all to the human body.
Thrush / yeast infection can be found in the genital region of men and women but it is more common in women. It can can be incurred by either sex, or originated by either sex. It is a widely mistaken belief that men only get yeast infections from women.
If left unattended then thrush can develop into something far more serious. It is best to confront thrush and treat it as quickly as possible. Do not ignore this infection. Help is at hand from medical professionals and natural ways to cure this.
A thrush infection must never be ignored. By "burying your head in the sand" you will only make the problem worse. Seek aid promptly as this infection can be treated with minimum fuss and side effects - if the correct product is chosen. Symptoms could spread otherwise and the harsh pain that can be experienced can worsen. Refrain from sexual intercourse (due to the pain) and this infection is easily spread.
Most women who suffer from thrush will visit their doctor who will prescribe medication such as creams or pessaries which must be inserted high into the vagina. You can suffer ill effects from these medications such as severe diarrhoea, dizziness and sickness. Birth contol is also effected by these medications as condom and diaphragm rubber can be damaged.
You can take measures to stop thrush occurring in the first place. This strategy must be approached with caution as a certain amount of yeast is naturally required for a healthy vagina in the first place. Trying to second guess how much you have in your body is a little risky for some. Plus, if you already have thrush then preventative measures are a little late in the day and a cure is required.
It is not impossible to stop thrush in the first place. However, since vaginal well being relies on a natural amount of yeast anyway it is fairly impossible to try to analyse how much one already has and how much you should prevent. If you have thrush already you should concentrate on treating it.
