New Testament Use Of The Old Testament
William Wetere
The forward press in the golf swing has been used by all the old famous golfers but some how has lost it's use especially in these modern days. Since it is not "fashionable" many golfers are actually afraid to use it as they may appear some what strange to their golfing buddies.....because your little press does not really conform to the norms of golf......or it could be because many golfers and golf instructors just don't know about it.
The forward press was used and recommended by one of the longest hitters the golf world has seen.....his name was Mike Austin. Yes the man who hit the long drive of 515 yards. Well one of the companies that sell his video's online claim it was a "secret" well that's just marketing hype. The fact is the forward press in the golf swing has never been a secret because everyone back in the day "used it".
What is a foward press?
If you take your normal stance and grip on the club ready to make your backswing.....you simply push the handle of your golf club straight forward about 1inch-3inches. This action takes out the angle of your wrist's and creates a FLAT left hand.
Why use a forward press?
A part from flattening out the back of your left hand......using a forward press in your golf swing will actually create balance. The little press act's as a trigger for your brain and your body to say "get ready we are going into action". So rather than starting from a static or still position.....you begin your golf swing with movement. This movement forward creates a feeling of timing and balance for your golf swing.
From the forward press position it is then just a simple cocking of the wrist's a turning of the shoulders and you should arrive at the top of your swing in great position.
The forward press is just a very simple and easy move that create's a feeling "readiness" in the golfer to make the back swing.
