New Zealand School Year
Matthew Franchise Anderson
For the majority of children, September marks the reality of going back to school, with the summer holidays now a distant memory, a return to algebra and grammar beckons. A new school year can be stressful for both parents and children alike; with an increasing competitive job market, success at School has never been so important. In an education system where our children are continuously being examined, many parents are turning to Kumon to stand their children in good stead for the academic challenges that will face them. Kumon can provide children with the confidence and impetus to realise their true potential, understanding that every child is different, thus enabling a child to progress at a rate which is right for them.
With tidy uniforms and shiny shoes, children are heading back to school for the start of a new school year. But while some are full of beans and keen to see their classmates, others will feel unsettled. As the work moves on a level many children will feel stressed and pressurised as demands on them increase. So, how can parents reduce the anxieties?
Kumon has been helping children develop their maths and native language skills for half a century, with the organisation celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. With over 4 million children in 44 countries now studying Kumon and 575 centres in the UK and Ireland alone, the Kumon Method is clearly working. Kumon is an individualised worksheet based programme, where as well as completing daily worksheets, the children are also required to attend their local study centre twice a week. Through individualised, yet closely monitored study, Kumon enables its students to acquire a mastery of basic skills in maths and English.
A unique facet of Kumon is that it is an individualised study programme, designed to suite the specific needs of each student, enabling them to master subjects at a level suitable for them. As well as providing its students with a sound grounding in reading, writing and arithmetic, Kumon enables children to develop a plethora of study skills which will stand them well throughout their academic career. Kumon also teaches children a valuable lesson which will stay with them for their entire life; that success can be achieved through hard-work and perseverance.
With the right teaching methods tutoring can bring out the best in your child and reduces the stress of learning. Parenting can be a stressful time as it is so having this one big stress taken out of your hands by employing a professional and expert tutor part time can give you more quality time with your children which is something every parent wants and strives for. Employing an expert tutor can also give your children something you cannot give and pass the expertise of the tutor down to your child in subjects you are perhaps not quite so hot on! With this in hand life, school and home can be made so much more simple and enjoyable. To your continued success in parenting!
