With the south-east of England having experienced up to 12 inches of snow onMonday, forcing many local authorities to close schools or roads, weatherforecasters are now predicting similar bad weather for the north of thecountry.
In particular, up to eight inches of snow are expected to fall across thenorth-west, eastern Scotland and the Borders region over the next few days, thereby making roads hazardous and car insurance more important than ever, particularly where snow turns into ice.
Furthermore, it is expected that strong winds could make conditions eventougher for motorists as they cause snow to drift, the Met Office has warned.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, police in Wales have confirmedthat the icy conditions were to blame for the death of a motorist in Llanellion Monday night, adding that drivers in the area should only make journeys ifthey are necessary.
