Initiate Change - When productivity falls below standards, supervisors are responsible to initiate changes. Think about an assembly line where a worker's responsibility directly affects the job of the worker next to him, for example. The next person won't be able to perform his role if he falls behind.
Unless a supervisor initiates changes, productivity will just get worse. A supervisor could do many things. Probation may be a simple solution, but a good leader will discover other ways to make things work. By knowing the cause for the person's drop in performance, a supervisor can find a solution. An excellent supervisor will effectively handle issues and discover new solutions that will make the workplace continuously more productive and operate more smoothly.
Introduce Fresh Ideas - In order to be continuously motivated, subordinates need new ideas in the workplace. After all, complacency, job monotony, and boredom are inevitable. To achieve the ideal work setting, a good supervisor should be able to brainstorm and execute fresh ideas.
Influence Others - To be able to gain the respect of his subordinates, a supervisor has to practice what he preaches. Employees will be encouraged to perform better if the supervisor is working just as hard.
