Electricity is produced in a number of ways. The oldest and still most prevalent way is by burning coal to produce steam to turn the turbines which in turn produces the electricity.

The less electricity we use the better for our environment and our economy. A power token system will force you to take notice of your power consumption on a daily basis. Most of us only take notice when we get our quarterly bill.

If you have to buy a power token every day you will certainly take notice of your consumption. You can even work out which appliances use more power than others and therefore limit your use of the less economical ones.

Tourism is also a major industry world wide. How many people do you know when leaving their motel room make the effort to turn off the air-conditioner and lights? Not many I'll bet. Why bother, they don't have to pay for it, or perhaps they rationalize that they have already paid for it in their accommodation costs.

Power tokens or pre-paid electricity meters would be compulsory if our governments were serious about reducing pollution and greenhouse emissions. But while there is still coal in the ground the power companies and the governments will keep on making money by burning the coal.

Some types of residential rental accommodation, by their nature, traditionally include electricity in the tariffs or room rates. If landlords think outside of the box they could save themselves and their tenants a lot of money.

By using the a power token system the tenant pays for what he uses, we are able to keep rents down due to lower costs, and it is keeping the Environmentalists happy, because the tenant is less likely to waste power because he is paying for it.

Have a pre-paid meter or token system installed to each room, cabin or caravan site and at the same time reduce your tenants rent. They will be happy to pay less rent and will then be more conservative with their power consumption.

This is the only way that you can force your tenant to take responsibility for their wastefulness. If they are more scrupulous with their power consumption they will save money, and you will save even more.
