Shop For Kids Clothes
Susan Harting
We all want the best for our kids: the best education, the best nutrition, the best health, and certainly, we also want them to experience the best, safest, most comfortable sleep we can give. One way to make sure that our children get the best sleep possible is by choosing the right kids' bedding for them. But with so many choices out there, how will you know which beddings are right for your child? It is not so hard, if you just remember these few things when choosing beddings for your kids:
First, you need to consider your child's age. The younger the child, the less bedding you need or should have. Babies, for instance, should not have pillows, blankets, or quilts in their cribs. As much as possible, keep the cribs free of anything that could cover your child's face and suffocate the baby.
Babies' beddings, ideally, should be limited to a fitted sheet covering the baby's mattress. Use a cotton sheet in the summer to keep your baby cool and a flannel sheet in the colder months will keep your baby warm. If you feel that your baby would be too cold without a blanket, use an infant sack, which would not cover your baby's face no matter how much baby moves around the crib.
When your children are two years in age or older, then you could let them sleep with a pillow. Feather or down pillows are very popular because they are soft, cool, and comfortable. However, you need to make sure that you choose down pillows with sturdy casings. If the feathers were able to escape, your child might inhale them and it could cause choking.
Second, if your child is prone to allergies such as asthma, avoid feather pillows because these could harbor dust mites, which could trigger your child's allergic reactions. The safest pillow for children with allergies would be molded foam pillows that contain anti-bacterial properties. You should never buy pillows filled with tiny foam pellets. These pellets could escape more easily than feathers, and are dangerous choking hazards for children.
Lastly, consider also the size of the pillow. Your child's pillow should let your child's spine align properly when the child is lying down. You need a low-elevation pillow for this. Do not buy a thick, stiff pillow that will push your child's head up so high that your child's chin is pressing down on his or her neck, as this can restrict breathing.
As you can see, the guidelines on how to shop for your kids' beddings are simple and few. You only need to consider if the product is right for your child's age and size, if it is sturdy, and if it contains nothing that your child may be allergic to. These are definitely details that you should consider for you child. If the beddings you choose meet these standards, then your child will be able to sleep safely and soundly - and so can you.
