?Smile an everlasting smile, a smile could bring you near, to me...?. These are the very sweet and charismatic words by one of the very old and famous music group, Boyzone. Smile according to psychology is a facial expression that is formed by the muscles present at both sides of the mouth. The muscles of the eyes are also responsible for our smile. Smile comes naturally to a person. you don't need to force them with it. It completely changes our facial expression and to a lot extend relieves us from our tensions.
Smile can be of various types. The most famous is the ?Duchenne Smile? named after the researcher Guillaume Duchenne. It involves both the muscles of the mouth and that of the eyes. This is the kind of smile that appears in all genuine cases. This kind of a smile involves nothing that is forced upon or done unwontedly. You smile like this when you are happy and you express all of it through your smile. It is also said that, due to the muscles of the eyes, it can be said weather the smile is real or a fake one. The eye says it all even if the mouth refuses to express. The other kind of smile is the ?Pan American Smile?. This is a voluntary smile that involves just the muscles of the mouth and it is generally done to show politeness. To give an example, this is a kind of smile that is passed when we greet somebody. Neither does the smile involve an inner happiness nor is it a forced one.
Laughing is also somewhat a similar expression but laughing and smiling are never that similar enough to be confused. Laughter is an outward expression of amusement caused either over the cracking of a joke or when somebody tickles you. The inhaling of nitrous oxide and strong drugs like cannabis could also cause strong laughter. Smile is a mild expression whereas laughing involves an outburst of emotions. The most natural and genuine kind of a laughter comes from small kids when they are tickled and the most innocent smile when they smile while sleeping.
A simple smile can work wonders. Sometimes it can get you out of big troubles and sometimes it could be of peace for an aching heart. From time immemorial, poets and writers have eulogized this expression and have written several poems over it.
A smile that is genuine...
Comes from your heart and your soul,
Is the fountain of felicity from within you,
Is full of so much cheer.
So smile.
A smile that is friendly...
Is better than sweet honey or pure gold,
Is the voice of a friend when you're all alone,
Will always be appreciated.
So smile.
A smile that is polite...
Makes you feel so warm inside,
Is the magic that works without a spell,
Can spread joy to others.
So smile.
If a single smile,
Could light up a room,
Then if everyone smiled,
We could brighten up our world.
Are you wearing a smile?
This is a simple poem by the Tasnia Mir and her poem says it all. A smile can bring joy and drive worries away. Sometimes a simple smile can also convey messages for which words fall short. A smile gives enough reasons for the world to brighten up.
