The most noted side effects of benzoyl peroxide are dryness of the affected area and flaking. These side effects are usually not that severe and can possibly be reduced by using an oil-free moisturizing lotion. Some other side effects include too much dryness and flaking, redness, and burning.

The chances of experiencing the side effects can be reduced by following all the directions that are provided along with the product package, or those given to you by your dermatologist. If undesired side effects occur, you may want to reduce the use of the product to every other day, or use a benzoyl peroxide product with a lower concentration.
