The best acne treatment for you will depend on several factors not just "my friend had great results with a particular remedy so why won't it do the same job on my acne".

One of the first things you should do is to find out your skin type and when/if it changes at different times of the year/month.  This will allow you to adapt your treatment when needed and keep in control of your acne.

Another important consideration is to rule out a food allergy.  You may be surprised to find out you have one (or several) just like I was.  Everyone kept telling me that I should be tested for a food allergy and that it might make a big difference to my acne.  I ruled it out until the very end because I just assumed I'd know if I had a food allergy because I'd have symptoms like hives or I'd go into anaphylactic shock.  However, with food allergies some people experience symptoms like acne, other skin problems,vomiting and headaches for example.

When I eventually tested for allergies, I found out I was allergic to soy and rice.  At first it was annoying having to check the ingredients in everything but it's worth it now.  To test for allergies you could try an allergy elimination diet yourself or make an appointment with your doctor to get tested.

You should also be aware of the severity of your acne because the best acne treatments for mild to moderate acne won't be the same for more severe types like cystic acne.

The best acne treatments are those that work for you not because an advert or a friend tells you so.  You have to experiment to find your own best acne treatment.
