Shih Tzu is perfect for an apartment life. They are hardly active indoor, so they will be fine even without a yard. However, the Shih Tzu breed is heat sensitive.
Their temperament
Firstly, Shih Tzu breed is more of a companion than pets. They just love staying indoors all the time with a family. They easily get along with the children and other pets too. They are all self-assured, alert, keen and outgoing. Shih Tzu breed makes perfect watchdogs. is also a docile, loyal, and calm breed preferring the couch or your lap, as opposed to staying outdoors. Because Shih Tzus are house pets; they should NEVER be left outside in the weather elements.
Shih Tzu breed and care
needs a lot of grooming. They require brushing everyday in order to prevent mats, knots and tangles. Shih Tzu breed also needs regular bathing - weekly to bi-weekly. They are not suitable to humid type of climate. Keeping their ears and eyes clean is necessary and important. They are prone to wheezing and snoring problems. Their dental hygiene too is important as a prevention from any tooth loss. As they gain pounds easily, they should not be overfed.
Coat
Shih Tzu generally has dense, long and double coat. The coat could be so much so profuse and luxurious outer that it could sweep the ground. At times, the coat of Shih Tzu could also be a bit wavy. The texture of the under coat is soft. Usually, the hair on the head top is placed into topknot for prevention of eye irritation. Shih Tzu coat could vary in the color largely. They are thought to be minimal shedders also are considered as hypo allergic.
Training and Shih Tzu breed
Shih Tzu breed are not difficult to house train. Persistence is the key to house training. For them, Shih Tzu breed, crate method could be the best. Shih Tzu breed is always ready to learn quickly and more than willing to please their human family. Shih Tzu breed is certain to do great in its obedience training, provided there is some motivation.
