In today's illness stricken society, many people are watching their diets and taking multivitamins as a means of protection. Over the years, vitamins have been known to aid in health and well being of the young and old. The biggest reason why many of us should be taking a vitamin is to ensure proper nutrition. With the fast food industry on a rise, many of us fail to eat a well balanced diet. Instead of grabbing a fruit or a vegetable, many of us resort to junk food and sodas. The percentage of people who actually get the five servings of fruit and vegetables per day is extremely low and this is where the multivitamin comes into play.
A good natural supplement will contain the daily dose of vitamins and minerals to improve bodily functions and boost physical and mental health. Aside from our daily nutritional needs, some people require more of certain nutrients during specific time intervals in their lives. For instance, pregnant women require more folic acid during pre conception and the first three months of pregnancy. Supplements are often a great way to target these individual needs.
Furthermore, vitamins offer a wide range of other health benefits. For instance, vitamins C and E when taken together, help protect the body from developing Alzheimer's disease. Vitamin E, on the other hand, is a fat-soluble antioxidant which aids in neutralizing potentially damaging free radicals. By neutralizing the free radicals, vitamin E protects cell membranes, maintains healthy skin, and encourages a healthy heart and circulation. Each vitamin offers numerous benefits and when all of these vitamins work together they deliver the most health benefits to all body parts. Taking a multivitamin will not only protect us from deficiency but it will also help us feel healthier and more energized.
