Start A Printing Business
Lynne Saarte
1 – Good quality labels equal good quality results.
Of course, if you want to turn out quality results, you have to use labels that are made of good quality materials. And your labels should be suitable to the printer you are going to use. For laser printers, your label printing material should be able to withstand the maximum heat that is generated during printing. If not, then you will end up with a printer that is dirty and might malfunction because the adhesive at the back of your labels peeled off, and worse, melted onto the inside of your label printing unit.
For dot matrix printers, label printing materials that are of low quality stock tend to get stripped as it moves around the printer. When this takes place, you would have a terrible time getting the stuck labels out of your printer. Removing them would not only waste your time, it would also mean more materials to be used, and hence, more costs.
2 - Save money with the labels you purchased.
You don’t actually save on the type of label printing materials that you bought. After going from one shop to the next, you should have learned by now that labels, especially for laser printers, are often expensive. So you need to really make sure that you have everything right when it’s time for you to use those materials and start producing your labels. Each mistake you make definitely means money down the drain.
To avoid wasting labels on unforeseen problems, remember to use a test sheet first. Use a blank sheet of regular paper. Right after, put that sheet against your sheet of labels and hold it up to the light. This way, you’ll be able to check whether your text is in its right alignment.
3 – Save on costs by using the extra labels at the end of every print run.
You will surely have extra labels at every print run because not all your materials will be used for all your label printing requirements. Before you print your final sheet of labels, use the blank cells to include information, for example your name and return address. So when you finally print your last sheet of labels, you’ll be able to have return-address labels for other tasks such as for paying bills or mailing your letters.
Saving money on costs may not only mean buying label printing materials that are cheap and low quality. Sometimes it’s the most unexpected events that lead to a more costly label printing project. So before you start with your task, check everything and if possible, make fewer mistakes along the way. You’ll end up saving more of your budget with the few extra costs you made with your label printing materials.
