Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak
Dennis Seeley
One of the benefits of being online is it is a lot easier to research candidates while learning what fellow voters are doing and staying to stay up to date. Additionally, with the internet it is easier to explain while straightforwardly examples and links supporting topics on politics such as what is Super Tuesday and how did this date evolve.
In 1988 southern states collectively banned together to carry out their primaries or caucuses on identical days. The objective was to help political parties and candidates save money while trying to accelerate the process while trying to prevent delays. This is advantageous for each political party and candidate to a point. However, a part of the spotlight of primaries and caucuses is to assist voters by providing opportunities to meet these presidential contenders before party conventions and ultimately prior to the actual presidential race.
The alignment of states to move their primaries to February 5th may save money for Democrats and Republicans. Regrettably candidate supporters are lose out by not having the politician they are interested in spend time in their state talking about issues they care about. A part of the reason is because of the degree of time or lack of time between the first Caucus (Iowa) and primaries thereafter up to Super Tuesday. This almost encourages potential presidential candidates to skip states, dash through states and local communities while only paying attention to majority of voters in targeted groups such as minorities, gender specific targets and union interests.
The current events have the political machine speeding along with super Tuesday running the chance of being renamed surprise Tuesday. Surprise victories by Senator Clinton, former Governor Mitt Romney, Senator John McCain, and the Iowa Caucus win by Mike Huckabee. The existing race is so frantic some websites dubbing February 5th Tsunami Tuesday. However, with internet politics and blogs Super Tuesday has the potential of be converted into even more chaos if Rudy Giuliani wins the Florida primary. In the event Rudy pulls out a win, this could possibly place Republicans along with their financial supporters in a predicament about who they should support.
Although the GOP is having their own candidate predicament they are not unaccompanied. The races and debates between Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton continue to live up to the history of Super Tuesday by confusing the media and political supporters. A previous Super Tuesday super star was former President Clinton who faced much of the same criticisms as Senator Clinton which he obviously was dubbed a comeback kid eventually winning on Super Tuesday.
While there is other states that will be holding their primaries after February 5th, the following 24 states will be conducting their primary or caucus on Super Tuesday. Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, **Idaho, Illinois, **Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, **New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia. ** Democrat caucuses only
