Marking the transition from childhood to adulthood, sweet sixteen parties are meant to be remembered. Your little girl is no longer the cute kid in a pink dress with pigtails. She may now be donning stylish jeans and have her hair tied up in a fashionable ponytail. She is also now more independent than before. To celebrate the momentous day in her life, throw her a birthday bash worth remembering.
Her birthday bash does not have to be extravagant for it to be memorable. Unless she wants a grand party, settle for something that's within your budget and that won't break the bank. You can always hold the party at your own home, or have it somewhere else. Consider fun spots like the beach, the theme park, arcade, or pool resort. You can spice up these places with balloons, crepe paper and other party favors.
To make the party more special, set up a program for your daughter and her guest's enjoyment. You can prepare games to liven up the event. If you're planning a really big party, then set the games aside and ready the dance floor. It would be difficult to manage so many people during games; it would be better if they simply hang out and dance the night away.
Prepare music that your daughter likes, not oldies that'll embarrass her. However, if you're throwing a party with a theme, you can play music that matches that theme. For example, if the theme is Hawaiian, then you can play Hawaiian tunes at the start, and then go for more upbeat tunes later on.
One more thing, your daughter is still far from the legal age. You can serve "mocktails" instead of real alcohol beverages to still give off a slightly mature feel to the event.
If your daughter prefers a more intimate or private gathering, then host a slumber party instead. Invite her closest friends and provide lots of food, drinks and music.
