Women tend to be older and sicker when they have heart attack so 38% of women will die within one year after the event and about 46% became disabled with heart failure within 6 years.
Risk factors are condition or habits that make a person more likely to develop a disease. Some risks we can do something about like: cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, overweight, physical inactivity and diabetes. Others we can't control like the age, the gender, the heredity and the race.
