Air raid shelters are structures for the protection of the civil population as well as military personnel against enemy attacks (Bombing) from the air.
2.Fallout shelter:-
A fallout shelter is an enclosed space specially designed to protect occupants from radioactive debris or fallout resulting from a nuclear explosion. Many such shelters were constructed as civil defense measures during the Cold War.
3.Blast shelter:-
A blast shelter is a place where people can go to protect themselves from bomb blasts. It differs from a fallout shelter, in that its main purpose is to protect from shock waves and overpressure.
4.Hardened aircraft shelter:-
A Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS), or Protective Aircraft Shelter (PAS), is a structure which houses and protects military aircraft from enemy attack.

Rock shelters form because a rock stratum such as sandstone that is resistant to erosion and weathering has formed a cliff or bluff, but a softer stratum, more subject to erosion and weathering, lies just below the resistant stratum, and thus undercuts the cliff.
