Stay At Home Women
Patricia Pfenning
I have been described as a recovering ?stay-at-home mom?. I have been married for 40 years; have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren. My list of volunteer activities include: Jaycettes, scouting, Friends of the Library, church and probably some I can't remember. I also cared for my father for 2 years before his death. Does this sound familiar? Is this how you describe yourself?
For as long as I can remember there has been a stirring deep within me that there must be something more to life than what I was experiencing. It was as if something were missing and I couldn't quite put my finger, so to speak, on why I was having these feelings; they were just there. I was ignorant to the possibilities of what I could do, be or have. (Oprah wasn't on TV when I was in my teens and early twenties!).
My teen years were in the 60's. The career choices for females were: teacher, nurse, secretary or marriage. Most of my peers chose marriage and because of the economic conditions I grew up in, college was not an option. I certainly didn't entertain the thought ?wow? I can do anything I choose ? not that I was told that I couldn't do or be anything it was rather I just never heard anyone say those words.
In 2006, I was introduced to the world of network marketing and my life took on a whole new venture. A flood of information was delivered to my door! This information was so powerful that it shook me to my very core. What I thought to be true wasn't ? I had always thought that I was a very positive person but within my negativity was rampant. But not for long!
My new adventure exposed me to some very incredible network marketers, speakers like Dr. Ellie Drake, Artemis Limpert, Jerry Clark, Myron Golden, Robert Dean Jr. and many, many more. Words like purpose, intention, congruency, surrender, equanimity and commitment were presented in an entirely new concept. The Law of Attraction? Never heard of it till now!
Dreams? I might have had a few nightmares, but I certainly didn't dream big!
What was I doing? Where was I going? Is this something I want to do? This can't be easy? The questions just keep coming. Have I been discouraged? You, bet! Have I wanted to quit! You, bet! And when I do get to feeling sorry for myself, I think back to that ?gnawing feeling? that there must be something more to life then what I was experiencing and I say ?no way?. I am moving forward and not looking back as that door has closed.
The personal growth that I have experienced in these last few months is priceless. To be with and around other network marketers who share the same values, ideals and goals is extraordinary. To be part of a company and a team of great leaders and individuals is incredible.
What now? With that door firmly closed behind me, I am moving to ?infinity and beyond? as my grandsons say. There is more growing, learning (I am coachable) and doing to be experienced. I am excited. The possibilities are endless. This would not be so, if I had remained wondering is this all there is to life and done nothing.
So I invite You (woman, wife, mother, grandmother) to become a part of this incredible opportunity of network marketing. Be bold, be brave, become the woman you were meant to be!
As Dr. Ellie Drake has so eloquently phrased: ?It's Easier Done Than Said?.
