There are lifeguards during the summer, lots of surfing and volleyball. Locals have even managed to catch quite a number of fish.

It is a hotspot for musicians, artists, roller-skaters, dancers, and street vendors. Venice Beach is also where many of LA's bodybuilders workout. ?Muscle Beach? is the famous outdoor weight room where some of the top celebrities (such as Arnold Schwarzenegger) have worked out. Venice Beach is a must see to all first-time visitors.
Paradise Cove Beach in Malibu is a wonderful place to escape for the day. It is a small and casual beach that not a lot of tourists know about (though many have seen it on television shows like "Baywatch" and "The OC"). It is a private beach, so expect to pay a small entrance fee and a parking fee. The bathrooms and showers are well-kept and clean.
