Temples Of North India
Vikas Agarwal
During Classic Holiday's Buddhist Trail India tour you will visit Buddha's place of birth in Lumbini plus follow the main travels and the essential stations of Buddha's life. You'll visit Bodh Gaya (where he was enlightened), deer park of Samath (where he first preached), the Gridkutta mountain (vulture's peak) of Rajgir, and Kushinagar (where be passed over his monk life into the Nirvana). At each of these places, Buddhist communities erected temples and Stupas so that the teachings of the Buddha remain omnipresent and the opportunity to worship and to meditate spreads everywhere.
Classic Holiday's Buddhist Trail India tour is a ten-day, eleven-night spiritual journey. You will start your travels in Delhi, and then travel on to Varanasi, Bodhgaya, Ragjir, Nalanda, Patna, Vaishali, Kushinagar, Lumbini, Sravasti, and Lucknow and back to Delhi. Delhi can be easily compared to cities like Athens, Rome and Istanbul when it comes to the cultural, architectural and historical richness. You'll travel on to Varanasi, an ancient city situated along the banks of the Holy River Ganges, then travel to Sarnath where Buddha preached his first sermon after receiving enlightenment. The entire complex, Dhamekh Stupa or Dharma Chakrawas were built to pay tribute to where Buddha preached his first five disciples. The Dharmarajika Stupa is where Buddha meditated and allegedly his bones are interred.
Other sites you will visit along Buddha's trail of enlightenment include:
Bodhgaya and the Mahabodhi Temple Complex is where Buddha attained enlightenment. It has been named a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
Nalanda where the University Nalanda was established during 427 AD in the rich landscape of the Ganges around the Buddhist memorials in Patna.
Vaishali where Buddha gave his final speech and in memory emperor Ashoka built a lion column. Two sites were built to commemorate the second Buddhist council here there during 383 BC.
Kushinagar, where Buddha at 80 years old met Parinivana and consoled sad Ananda at the bank of the Hiranvati River. It was in Kushinagar, that Buddha died.
Lumbini -- the cradle of Buddha ? which is the birth Place of Lord Buddha.
Sravasti, where Buddha lived in the Jetvana garden for 24 years. You will also visit the grandiose Stupas and temple. Sravasti is the past capital of the Kosala kingdom.
Buddha began a spiritual journey through North India over 2500 years ago. Now you can retrace his steps through the stations of life that resulted in the formation of the world's largest religion, Buddhism, and some of history's memorable spiritual passages. If you seek enlightenment of your own, make it come true by booking Classic Holiday's Buddhist Trail India tour.
