Casting calls were being done in San Diego, and in one incident, things got physical between the Amazing Race star and a potential contestant. The reason behind the rumble wasn't clear, however, the action was all caught on tape. The video showed a man shoving Mariano, who in return told him to "walk away" several times, and eventually punched the man in the head twice.
The video, which says Rob "Decks [a] Heckler," was posted on YouTube and is now proliferating all over the Internet.
However, Mariano's Tontine is still creating much buzz with or without him making any controversy. The show has extensive physical and mental challenges and spans across the globe for 100 days on all seven continents. The best part of it is its prize, which is a whopping $10 million, the biggest prize amount in reality TV history.
Tontine will feature Mariano using his extensive gaming experience to motivate te contestants and serve as a host. Currently, there is still no official announcement on which major network will pick up the new reality series.
Meanwhile, casting calls are still going on as the official website recently announced that it has extended its online application until midnight of August 31.
Filming is tentatively set to start in September, as the producer may prefer to begin at a later date.
The 31-year-old Mariano is also known for his appearances on Survivor: Marquesas, Survivor: All-Stars, The Amazing Race: All-Stars, and Rob and Amber: Against the Odds, aside from that in The Amazing Race.
