The Best Video Game System
Sam Deane
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that there are three main players in the field of video games systems. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are pretty much ruling the roost these days. Each of them has their fans. Each has great qualities, but which is the best of these three great video games systems?
Because Nintendo Wii is set up as a family games console, its focus is placed firmly upon the active family fun marketplace. As such, it operates in a different medium from Xbox and PlayStation. So for that reason, although Nintendo serves its purpose excellently, we are going to pass on the Nintendo Wii in this discussion and focus on the two heavy hitters, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Both of these video games systems have been acclaimed as the ultimate in video gaming. Taking almost all factors into account, you will find that they are both about as good as each other. If it was up to me to choose one, I'd definitely need to find out what benefits I was seeking from every one of the video games systems.
The first thing to point out is that IBM, Sony and Toshiba are all behind the development of the processor within the PlayStation 3. This has given the PlayStation 3 a massive edge on its competition from the outset.
No wonder the PlayStation is the favorite for so many. With high definition movie quality viewing and easy net surfing through its console, the PlayStation is off to a flying start when in comparison. Add to that the robust NVIDIA graphics card and its slick Blu-ray player and you are beginning to see that this is far more than one of those average video games systems. It's even got a vast storage capacity of 54 GB.
Because of the NVIDIA graphics card, the PlayStation 3 gamer enjoys scenes that seem as near to real as you could possibly imagine. The sheer quality of the awesome effects, the impeccable visual and oral quality too. It's no surprise to hear many saying they have improved to the point where the video games systems genuinely can be compared with the very best of Hollywood's movies.
Add to that the fact that PlayStation 3 offers the unique benefit of being able to give old-school gaming enthusiasts that ability to play well known games from now expired editions of PlayStation. What this means is that PlayStation 3 gamers enjoy a lot more choice in terms of games.
Now to the Xbox 360 console. As you can see, it is up against some hefty competition in the form of the PlayStation 3, but you can know that there are many good reasons why the Xbox is undoubtedly the PlayStation's biggest rival for the title of best of the video games systems.
The Xbox has a 512MB IBM RAM processor and a 3.2 GHz chip. Non-techie folk need only know that what this means is that the Xbox has enormous processing capacity. The NVIDIA card that powers the graphics on the PlayStation 3 are so impressive they literally rock. Everyone who checks out the rendering of the graphics and the speed of representation are almost always totally blown away. The ATI graphics in the Xbox 360 offers a massive 500MHz of speed making rendering beyond impressive and causing many to say that this has to be the daddy of all games consoles!
The Xbox 360 has a DVD-ROM which admittedly cannot compete with the PlayStation's impressive Blu-ray player. But Xbox also supports both CD and DVD formats so you can make your video games systems transform into radical home theater systems.
So, let there be no doubt that both of these worthy consoles provide great graphics and present unique and thoroughly exciting games impeccably.
Weighing up the features of one from another is extremely difficult. Hardly anything sets them apart. Throw the issue of price into the ring and generally it has to be said the Xbox is generally less expensive than the PlayStation in most stores. So, you could say that the Xbox 360 is more economical than the PlayStation 3.
Because of the great quality of these two video games systems, any alternative games consoles will find it extremely difficult to overturn these two market leaders. They are all set to sustain their market share and no doubt have a number of ideas up their sleeves to even further improve upon the many great features that they have to offer their fanatical user base.
Which is best? I'll leave it to you to make up your mind!
