I'm pretty sure that even my eyelashes are attached to it when back pain strikes.
Most of the time back pain will just slowly leave no matter what you do or don't do.
I am a firm believer in getting to a chiropractor as quickly as possible when back pain strikes, but not everybody believes that, so follow your own guidelines.
There are some things that you can do at home that will help to relive that pain in your back, however.
First, lay down on a firm surface...the floor is good but a firm mattress is also acceptable. Draw your right knee up toward your chest.
Catch your leg underneath the bend of the knee -- not on top of the knee but under the knee -- and draw it as far as you can toward your chest. Hold it for just a few seconds and release and relax the leg. Repeat this exercise, alternating between your right leg and your left leg, 10 times.
This exercise should be done before getting out of the bed first thing in the morning and repeated several times throughout the day.
Alternately, applying heat and cold will help to relieve back pain. Heat helps to relax muscles, and cold helps to prevent swelling.
Leave the heat on for about five minutes, and then leave the cold pack on for about five minutes.
The magnesium that is absorbed through the skin when taking a warm bath in Epson salt water will help to relieve the pain in the back.
Soak your aching back in a warm tub for about 15 minutes to achieve maximum pain-relieving results.
Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant, and relaxing taut muscles will help to reduce pain.
