I think the first way to address back pain is changing the firmness of your
mattress. I know when I had back problems it was because the mattress was too soft and not comfortable anymore. When I change the mattress to one that was firmer it helped me out a great deal.
Exercise is another way to treat back pain and get the relief you need, sitting around doing nothing won't do you any favors. I took some simple over the counter medication to help treat my persistent problem. Though you may want to try natural treatments such as massages, oils, ice/heat packs. If you feel nothing is working then it's time to see a doctor because surgery might be required. This chronic problem is a horrible thing to live with but you can make some improvements to ease the back pain somewhat.
To prevent further pains in your back limit yourself when lifting objects, don't lift too much you know you shouldn't be lifting. There are various other natural remedies that may help you deal with your problem such as Omega-3, Ginger, Tumeric, bubblewrap, and a sock with a couple tennis balls in it rubbed on your back. Back pain relief should be taken inconsideration as soon as you feel any discomfort.
