I remember when I was younger if I put my head under water in the bath I would hear mild tinnitus but only ever then. Then when I hit 25 I contracted tinnitus badly, prior to this event I had been playing in rock bands and nightclubbing. (Speed and cannabis) and the doctor did put me on sertaline for a while which is an SSRI.
For this reason I dont know exactly when and how I got Tinnitus.
In summaryI would say my Tinnitus is a mixture of noise damage which was made worse because at the time i was very stressed so my immune system was probably low and unable to protect me in those circumstances. Finally I do produce mucus in my throat in the morning so I think acidity is a problem.
A Tinnitus Answer
I do agree with you that your tinnitus is being caused from exposure to noise. The tinnitus is actually caused by cochlea damage which also will result in high frequency hearing loss.
The fact that you played in rock bands makes it almost certain that cochlea damage is the main cause of your tinnitus. It is likely that the tinnitus was triggered or aggravated by the speed and cannabis use but this alone is very unlikley to be the root cause of your tinnitus.
Stress will certainly aggravate this tinnitus type as well and could well have been the trigger at the time your tinnitus started.
