London is the capital of England and the world's ninth greatest center. It has a rich history that spans nearly 2000 years, which started with the arrival of the Romans soon after their invasion of Britain in AD43.London is situated on the banks of the river Thames, in the south east of England.

Amid World War II, German bombs killed over 30 000 Londoners and destroyed legions houses and other fabrics across London. This was not to be the last time that London maybe damaged by bombing.In fact, Irish Republican Army bombers disrupted the urban place with bomb threats- and actual bombs- for legions years until their 1997 ceasefire. More recently, the place was struck by a series of coordinated bomb attacks in 2005, which were carried out by Islamic extremist suicide bombers on the city's public transport network on 7 July.

As it is the capital of England, London shows off the foremost museums in the country. One of the supreme is the Science Museum, which is in South Kensington. The museum was established in 1857 and has over 300 000 exhibits, including Puffing Billy and Stephenson's Rocket.The municipality has a wealth of illustrious galleries too, including the National Portrait Gallery.

The shops in London are some of the best in the world. From designer stores to independent stores, there is something for everyone in this huge center.One of London's better recognized stores is Hamleys, a great toy shop on Regent Street. It is a major tourist interest and receives 5 million tourists every year, multitudinous of whom look in at Christmas. Boasting an rousing seven floors, the toy shop caters for everyone, from babies and toddlers to grown ups!

London has fabulous night-life, which we are sure that everyone will find impelling. From prominent restaurants, to exclusive clubs and bars, there is something for everyone in London.One of the largest celebrated clubs is the Embassy, which is a private members club on dated Burlington Street. The club is quite expensive, but it is chock-full of celebrities and divine for star spotting. As well as this, it serves splendid food by Michelin award winner Garry Hollihead.

As it is these a tremendous stead, London is very easy to get to. In fact, it is well connected by rail and vaunts some generous railway stations, including London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston and Liverpool Street. As well as this, the conurbation also has three major airports, Heathrow; Stanstead and Luton.Driving in London may be tricky due to the congestion charge, but the metropolitan area has a celebrated underground and bus network to help folk get around.
