Mineral Water Health Benefits
Alan Allport
Most of us are aware that mineral water benefits our general health. It's a fact that our bodies are 70% water and our bodies require a wide range of minerals to ensure their proper functioning. The sad thing is that most of the water purification systems on the market do a pretty good job of removing a large proportion of these healthful minerals.
Of course, there are plenty of contaminants that it is perfectly sensible to remove from our water supply and there is plenty of excellent equipment available on the market today that will do just that.
You should never lose sight of the fact that that many essential bodily functions require various minerals to support them. Electrolytes in your body are replenished by minerals. Mineral water benefits the body by helping with the cleansing of toxins from it.
Historically water has been regarded as a veritable cure-all at various times. And we're not just talking about drinking mineralized water here, we're talking about bathing in it too, including full immersion. These ideas continue down to the present day with some Roman spa towns in the UK still having baths and, of course, Lourdes in France.
Here are just a few examples of how the body uses minerals: iron helps in the delivery of oxygen via the blood circulation system, magnesium helps to strengthen the immune system and regulate blood pressure, sodium regulates the fluid levels in the body and calcium helps strengthen teeth and bones.
Now, many people reading this article will already have arrived here with the distinct idea that they need some form of water filtration system in their home. But it's vitally important that you address the fact that a lot of mineral water benefits can be lost to you if you install certain types of water purifier.
The reverse osmosis system is one of the more popular types of home water filtration system. Sadly, it's also one of the worst in terms of the loss of minerals that occurs from using it. It certainly does an excellent job of getting rid of the types of impurities that you want to see the back of, but can't be recommended due to the mineral water benefits that you lose as well.
Another popular approach - water distillation - has exactly the same drawbacks. You should really focus your search on mineral revitalization water purification systems to give yourself the full benefits of properly mineralized water. You have to recognize that mineral water benefits are too important to the proper functioning of your body for you to readily dismiss them. The ideal system for your home is one that adds to the mineral content of the water, or failing that, at least doesn't remove the existing minerals.
