Every person who with the intent to defraud or acquiring or transfering or retaining possession of personal identifying information of another person is guilty of a crime ispunishable by up to $1,000 and one year in county jail.

Now paying $1,000 is not a big deal for almost anybody I am sure, at least to get out of the much that you would be stuck in. But it surely wont be such a nice experience to spend a year in county jail. Would it?

Besides, your career is ruined and your self respect and that of your family both are at stake. You would ever respect you or look up to your family and who would employ you either, the more important thing.

Your career would be ruined and you would really have no choice but to live a miserable choice once you are sentenced in such a case. Is this what you are looking forward to?

Penalties for identity theft in California arent the biggest penalties in the world. But they are more than enough to scare the hell out of the people for who these penalties are meant. Normally those people would be teens or young people or other conmen for who such a punishment should often be good enough, in fact, more than what is required!
