According to a spokesman for Stuff.tv, a site which offers news and reviewsfrom the world of gadgets and gaming, the Nintendo Wii was one of the productsthat had changed the landscape for the better.
Joe Minihane, online news editor at the site, said that Nintendo had broadenedthe scope of the market with the Wii and its handheld DS system and that thishad filtered down to others in the sector.
"My grandma has a DS, my sister - who's never been into gaming - has aWii," he said.
"It's a real winner for everybody. The video game industry is bigger thanfilm now."
Figures published earlier this year by the TNS Technology marketing group, saidmany parents believed games such as those available on the Nintendo Wii werehaving a positive influence in the home.
