Online Mba No Gmat
J.j. Yong
Like getting a traditional MBA, you have to sit for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) before getting to an online MBA degree program. This has created confusion among course applicants as some of the accredited business schools allow students without GMAT to further their tertiary education in that particular business degree.
This question often rose among people who wanted to apply for a business administration for working adults - Do you actually need to sit for GMAT in the first place?
Basically, you have to understand the real objective of GMAT which is commonly used as a measuring aptitude test for candidates and it is also the main requirement for admission into an accredited business post-graduate degree program.
Generally, there are reasons why some top accredited business schools does not offer GMAT for MBA applicants. Instead, candidates are required to take certain entry examinations established by these selected business schools. These entry examinations are perfectly modified based on the requirements of respective business majors. For example, Swiss Business School (SBS) does not require a GMAT score due to the fact that they offer an internal entrance test similar to the GMAT.
In some cases, GMAT is unnecessary in these following reasons:
  • If your undergraduate degree is from a university in which the school is familiar with (particularly when these schools are in the same country). You have to check whether your previous institution that you graduated is recognized by the business school that you have currently applied.
  • If you are applying for an online MBA course program from internationally accredited universities such as:
  • Durham Business School (UK)
  • TiasNimbas Business School (Netherlands-Germany)
  • Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain) and other well-known accredited business schools
  • The administrator of these schools will review your application and possibly transfer credits from your previous undergraduate degree program into your current MBA degree program.
