At the start of the list is a reasonably new drummer, some can dispute that he isn't actually a punk drummer and more of a metal one but I disagree, it's right that he's partial to calm it down and do his death metal fills but at heart he's genuinely a punk-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"
Born on July 23, 1981. Jocz is generally recognized for his work in the Canadian pop punk band Sum 41. An exceptionally speedy and tight drummer, he's able to change the feel of a song straight away. Only one of the few punk rock drummers that is able to sneak in cheesy metal fills and get away with handling it. He is also famous for his lavatory humour which is a obvious indication of punk maturity/immaturity- you decide!
Travis Barker
Born November 14, 1975. Arguably best recognized for his work in Blink 182 he's also drummed for several other bands. Travis sits in at no 4 not simply as for his excellent speed and timing but also because of his varied assortment of styles from Punk to Hip-hop, Country to Pop.
Tr? Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)
Born December 9, 1972. He is one of the original (pretty much) 3 piece which makes up Green Day. Bending extensively more to the pop side of punk as a drummer, Tr? certainly aided Green Day grasp the world audience that pushed them to megastars. If he been just one more, high speed, same old drummer the band could have toiled to interest such a big marketplace.
Josh Freese
Born Christmas Day, 1972. Josh is generally recognized for his work in The Vandals but can list several other bands and accomplishments. A high speed drummer capable of slowing it down and unite with the top and has recorded for Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and Guns N' Roses as if to demonstrate the point. Josh's individual works also show off a deliberate, more refrained drumming technique proving that speed isn't all however for me I prefer the Vandals sound.
Erik Sandin-AKA "Smelly"
Born 29/07/1966. Erik is the permanent drummer for NOFX. Erik was an original member of the band although departed two years after in 1983. In 1986 he was persuaded to re-unite with the band but suffered from heroin addiction until 1992 when thankfully he booked into a rehabilitation clinic and has been off the drugs constantly since. He may not be the top of everybodys list, for someone who enjoys the excellence of NOFX then there is no match.
