Bamboo Towels Bed Bath
Sebastian Marders
Bamboo is an amazing plant that can be used for many different purposes, including bamboo flooring, furniture, decorating, and even fabrics. It is one of very few renewable resources that has such a wide variety of uses, and is a strong and durable material that can last for many years. Bamboo fibers can also be woven into towels just like cotton, making a durable, yet absorbent choice for all your after-bath requirements.
Even though bamboo is typically a hard plant, it turns into a soft and plush material when the cellulose from the plant is converted into silky fibers, which are then woven into towels and other cloths as well. Bamboo fibers are much softer than typical cotton fibers, so bamboo towels are soft, plush, and often much more enjoyable than cotton bath towels.
Bamboo grows very fast and can be harvested quickly, so many consider bamboo towels to be extremely environmentally friendly. Organic bamboo towels that have not been bleached or treated with chemicals are much healthier for the environment as well as for those who dry-off with them. They are made very similarly to standard, cotton bath towels. The silky fibers are woven into large pieces of fabric using a loom. They are then sized, cut into different dimensions of towels, and hemmed in order to be shipped off to various retailers.
Because bamboo towels are made out of different materials than standard bath towels, they must be treated differently in order to maintain their life. They can still be laundered in a standard washing machine, but should only be put through the gentle cycle to prevent the towels from fraying. A mild detergent should be used, and any type of bleach or fabric softener must be avoided. If the edges of the towel start to have loose threads, they should be clipped off with a sharp pair of scissors to avoid any further fraying from occurring.
Bamboo towels can make a great addition to any bathroom, since they come in a wide variety of colors and sizes. Although they are a little more expensive than a typical cotton or cotton blend towel, they can last for years as long as they are well taken care of. They also make great gifts for a number of different occasions, including weddings, housewarmings, and even birthdays. As with anything, when purchasing bamboo towels, it is important to check out ratings before shopping, in order to determine which brand produces the best product on the market.
So, if you're thinking about replacing those old, frazzled towels on your rack, don't let the traditional image of bamboo scare you away from even trying something new. Remember that even though bamboo towels really are made of genuine bamboo, they actually are much more plush than your standard cotton towels. They are both considered to be one of the softest towels currently on the market, and can outlast other materials by years in spite of it. Bamboo is a great alternative to cotton, environmentally friendly, and the perfect purchase. What reason could there be not to at least give it a try? You may find that you too are a life-long convert to bamboo.
