Whenever the Internet was new, very few people ever ventured outside of cyberspace in order to promote their website. There were a daring few who did so and some people saw some good for their efforts. During that time, however, not as many people had the Internet and were not as familiar with hearing URLs whenever they were spoken. All that has changed in recent years, however, and people are seeing excellent results online from their off-line efforts. Let's take a look at a few of the things that you can do in order to make sure that your website is consistently getting traffic from your real-world efforts.
One of the best ways for you to get a lot of visitors to your website is to have it mentioned in the media in some way or another. This really is not too difficult to do and many newspapers and news stations will report on your website if you really have a newsworthy event happening. How many times have you seen a URL in a newspaper or heard one on the news and gone right over to type it into your Internet browser? You would be surprised with how much traffic you can get by doing this.
Another way to get yourself some traffic with off-line methods is by handing out business cards that contain your URL. You should always make sure that your website address is included on your business cards because many people that are interested in what you have to offer will automatically go over and check out your online presence. You may also be able to leave some business cards that are specifically designed to promote your website at a variety of different locations. If you frequent certain businesses, ask them if you can leave some of your business cards on the counter. Many of them will allow you to do it, simply to keep a good customer.
Expanding on the idea of a business card, you may also be able to come up with a flyer that is very effective for promoting your website. If you're into niche marketing and you have some local businesses that are also in the same general niche, perhaps they would be willing to offer the flyers to their customers. This is especially true if you are offering something of interest to their customers that is not competing against them. Perhaps you can even sweeten the deal by promoting them a little bit on your website. It may not work in the reverse way but most people would be willing to make the exchange.
Many times, we get too caught up with our online marketing efforts and miss the fact that the real world can certainly send us a lot of traffic. Make sure that you include a little bit of off-line marketing in your daily routine. Once you get the hang of it, it can actually be an enjoyable part of your day where you get to interact with people on a one-to-one basis.
