To start we will discuss the negatives of using homemade kitten food and then go to positives of using homemade kitten food.
Making your own homemade kitten food will take you more time then simply opening a bag or can of kitten food. There is nothing simplier then pouring premade food into your kittens bowl. Making your own food will reguire you to spend time making it every few days.
On the flip side, the more you make your kittens food the less time it will take you and it has been shown that cats can live a much longer time when feed a diet that closely resembles what they would eat out in the wild.
Making your own kitten food will cost more money in the begining. A kitten eats uncooked meat and veggies.
It will actuall cost you less money in the long run. When your kitten gets the right amount of nutrition he will be sick less often. That means that you will spend less on vet bills. You still need to get your friend his shots but the sick vet bills will be greatly reduced. Your kitten will also eat less when he is properly feed.
Before you start feeding your kitten homemade food you need to do your homework. Cats have different food allergies then we do and some of our food is actually poision to them.
Garlic, onions, and tomatoes are poison. Cats should not eat any thing that is in the same food group as onions and garlic. Kittens are also lactose intolerant and where as it won't kill them it will make them sick and that would defeat the purpose of feeding your cat homemade food.
Just like everything you do, when you know the rules and follow them, you won't have to think about them. It will become second nature.
