But, before you start trying to find a suitable dog training school, the first thing you need to know is that the school is not the complete answer to training your dog. Training goes on throughout a dog's life, though you're doing the right thing by starting early and using a training school. The thing that most people underestimate about training a dog is the amount of day-to-day time it takes. You need to devote time everyday to training your dog, even if you have used a training school. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be a lot of time, 15 ? 30 minutes a day, but it should be consistent and separate from other time with your dog, including walks. It is especially important to devote the time when your dog starts training because the sooner you develop good habits, the easier future training will be and the less need you will have for training schools.

Dogs are pack animals and, as such need a clearly defined leader in their pack, which is the owner and his or her family. If there is no clear leader in the pack, it is a dog's natural instinct to assume the role of leader. So, if owners don't properly establish themselves as leader in the eyes of their dogs, they might never properly train their dogs. They will blame the problem on a difficult to train dog. In addition to training dogs, a good dog training school trains owners in the best ways of establishing leadership.
