Bloodstone is a green semi-precious stone that has red spots. This stone could also come in various intensities of dark green with brown, red and other multicolored spots. The brown and deep red colors are primarily caused by the iron minerals found in it. It is a dark green variety of chalcedony which has several nodules of red jasper that are distributed throughout its mass. The polished areas would therefore show some red spots that have a dark-green background. And because of the that is achieved through this, it has been given its name. This stone has similar physical properties as quartz. It has a hardness of 7 on the Moh's scale.
