Most people seem to think, if they want to label something, all they need to do is get a label and attach it. Not so. Nowadays, a simple label is rarely good enough, form a variety of perspectives. While there are a lot of uses for the simple label, one of the most important things they are lacking is reusability.
Most labels are permanent, and completely unchangeable. So once you've stuck the label to something, you can't remove it, and you can't alter it. I'm sure you can easily see all the ways in which this is a problem. Now, what you may not be aware of, is that there is a solution to this problem. You simply need to get a label holder.
There's a lot of different label holders available, ranging from the most advanced magnetic holders, to basic plastic sleeves. So you shouldn't have any trouble finding a suitable one. Plus, they are usually usable in a much larger number of circumstances, so depending on what you need it for there might be several that work.
First of all, a label holder is much more adaptable. A lot of holders, including the popular snap-on holder, are designed specifically to be easier to remove and attached elsewhere. In addition to this, the fact that it is a label holder rather then a label, makes it much easier to change what it says.
Second of all, label holders are a lot cheaper then labels. I don't meant he label holder itself, as that will obviously cost more, but you will save money through reusing them in the long run. It's just one less monthly cost to worry about.
Thirdly, label holders last significantly longer then their basic counterparts. A label holder can still be around and functional years after a mere label has worn away to illegibility. Particularly when you consider that even if a label doesn't get worn, it will still fade, while label holders protect their contents.
So label holders are cheaper, last longer, are more easily repaired and are reusable. Is there any reason left to still use basic labels? Certainly not. The only thing that remains is to find a supplier. Now you may think that this is going to be easy, and it is- but it becomes much less so if you want to buy in bulk, or at a particularly good value.
The solution to this particular puzzle is, of course, the internet. Your one stop shop for pretty much everything. I know you've probably heard all sorts of horror stories about buying online, but it's actually not that bad. Yes, there are plenty of scams and bad deals, but there are also a surprisingly large number of excellent sites.
All you have to do, is know how to get in touch with them. This isn't difficult either. Just go on google, and do a few searches, you'll find plenty of results. Even for something as specific as "Label Holders". Then, if you can't decide who to trust, check out some review sites or forums. Ask questions. See who you can find, who knows what they are talking about. There are a lot of advice sites out there, and they have some valuable information available.
So go online, and have a look around. Even if you don't find somewhere to buy from immediately, you could learn something about what's on offer. At the least, you'll get a better idea of availability and pricing, which will be of help to you in the future.
