Review Of Garmin Gps
Derrick Bogaster
And so enter the Garmin Quest 2. Shaped like a PDA, the Quest 2 is a great convenient GPS device which is handy to use whether you are walking or in the car. Maps are now included on the device itself, which is an upgrade from the former Quest 1 device.
Due to its portability and precise directions, the Garmin Quest 2 is a reliable option if you're looking for a flexible GPS device. The device has a solid build and is comfy in the hand.
A USB port and external antenna attachment, secured by a rubber cover, are found on the back of the Quest 2. Each Quest 2 comes with instructions, reference materials and USB cable. Despite being a portable GPS, the Quest 2 doesn't come with a carry pouch and you cannot charge the device using the USB cable.
One of the biggest changes that Quest 2 has since the original Quest, is the inclusion of pre-stored maps on the device. This means you don't have to download any maps when you first fire up the Garmin Quest 2. Just turn it on and off you go by choosing your destination by intersection, pre-saved location or address.
The Find New feature of the Garmin Quest 2 mean that you can find points of interest along the way when traveling to your destination. Points of interest are things such as hotels, gas stations or food outlets. The Quest 2 learns the route that you take and can remember them for later. It can also calculate the fastest time or shortest distance to your chosen destination.
The TracBack feature of the Garmin Quest 2 is a little bit like a Hansel and Gretel trail, allowing you to retrace the route you took or keep track of which directions you have taken. The device will also automatically recalculate your route if your become lost, enter a construction zone or have to do a detour. Finally, the Quest 2 enables you to avoid certain roads, like toll ways or high ways.
However, such a small GPS device can have some disadvantages. Voice guided instructions are only available along with the built in automobile mount. The screen is small, making it difficult with people with bad eye sight, and it is not a touch screen. The Quest 2 can be also be somewhat price, with retail versions around the $750 mark.
